Darryl is originally from Carndonagh where his family ran a small business in the 1980’s. After leaving Carndonagh Community School he graduated in Economics from the University of Manchester. He qualified as a chartered accountant with Arthur Andersen in their Manchester office in 1995 and is now a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.
His initial background is grounded in audit and he gained extensive experience at a number of multinational and large private manufacturing businesses in Manchester. He became an assurance manager in Arthur Andersen’s Oil & Gas division in London in 1997 and worked on clients in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the oil and gas industry. His main audit client comprised the entire UK operations of Texaco and he assisted in a number of corporate transactions, which included financial due diligence, working capital reviews and flotations.
Darryl joined Baker Hughes, a large US oil services group, as Finance Manager of their London office in 2001. His principle focus was the financial management of their Nigerian oil field assets and he was responsible for all associated group reporting. On his return to Ireland in 2005, Darryl held a number of financial positions in industry. This included four years as Finance Director of McCormick Estates, a property development and management company, which managed and developed a number of property projects in Ireland.
Darryl joined Brian McDaid & Company in 2011. His extensive experience in both practice and industry allowed him to provide a wide range of financial assistance to clients. His primary focus was on the provision of financial reporting, management, auditing and tax compliance advice for companies, sole traders, farmers and individuals situated in both Ireland and the UK.
In 2013 he became a Chartered Tax Consultant with The Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland. This qualification is specifically for Chartered Accountants and allows him to deliver more to clients by fusing his existing accounting & finance expertise with the critical skills of tax.
Having the experience of providing accounting and tax services to some of the world’s largest multinational companies, Darryl’s aim is to provide the same quality of service and advice to individuals and small businesses here in Ireland and the UK.
